December's Outing

Gee, Constance, are you excited to sing to all the Grandmas & Grandpas at Village Oaks? I think so!
Here are our Daisies all set and ready to go! Some brought their siblings along to help and we are so grateful for that!
Up on the rooftop, quick, quick, quick! The girls did a great job...sang loudly, and even danced a bit!
These lovely ladies were so happy to be around such cute little girls...and you too Lucas! :) There was even a Girl Scout among them! The girls were amazed...she knew "Make New Friends" and they all sang it together. How neat that the girls were able to understand just what a long standing tradition they are a part of. Maybe their girls will wear little blue vests someday too!
After the singing, the girls handed out the ornaments they made at the last meeting along with some candy canes that Katlind's mom donated to the troop. Thanks Holly! :)
The we broke up into groups and visited the residents that were in their rooms. At Village Oaks, an open door means that vistors are welcomed!
The few ornaments that were left were used to decorate a tree in the lobby. You'd be so proud of our girls! They earned their light green petal, considerate and caring, during this outing. Not one girl acted up, ran through the halls, or performed any other antics. They were very respectful and treated Village Oaks just like what it is, someone's home.

I'll be taking some prints of the pictures over to the home for the residents to enjoy. They were very clear that we are all welcome to visit anytime. Great job girls!

P.S. Here's a quick video of Jingle Bells!

December 4th Meeting

To prepare for our caroling trip to the nursing home, we spent the December 4th meeting making ornaments to hand out to the residents.
The girls did such a great job! A sequin here, a pom pom there...each itty bitty piece placed with care.We purchased 4 dozen kits...for a total of 48 ornaments to pass out! Honestly, I thought I'd be finishing some of them up at home, but your girls can work FAST!
You might want to remind them of this the next time you ask them to clean their rooms! :)

They were so excited! I explained to them that a nursing home is where lots of Grandmas and Grandpas live. Here's Emma's take on it in the video below. Please remember...you can always see this blog on www.daisytroop1866.blogspot.com . If you don't see the video below in your email, go to the blog and it will be there.

It's a Meeting, It's an Outing...it's a Meowting!

Tee hee...couldn't help myself!

Okay, really this message is SUPER important! Yes, this is the time that a lot have been waiting for...it's COOKIE TIME!! Constance's mom, Jeri, has been nice enough to offer to fulfill the duties of Cookie Mom...thank you Jeri for committing yourself to all that paperwork! She has some great ideas and I'm grateful for her help!

At the meeting, you will get all the forms and goodies that you'll need to sell your cookies. There are certain things that we HAVE to tell you according to the upper ups, so it would be great for you to be there. If you can't make it, of course we will understand...we'll try to get you the information in another way, but we'll miss you just the same. :)

We thought that since the December outing was so short and the girls didn't really get a chance to interact, that we would make this an outing for them too...one where they get to play and hang out with their Daisy sisters! So, without further ado, I give you the AWESOME invite that Jeri made for us...thanks Jeri! (click on it to make it larger)
Thanks everyone! Please let me know if you have any questions! :)

November 20th Meeting

Hey all! :)

I hope you all had a great holiday! Things got crazy around here, with the holiday, then we all got the flu, and hubby had surgery too! Not to mention all the Daisies events we planned! So I apologize for neglecting this blog a bit, but you are now about to be caught up! :)

We'll start with the meeting on the 20th. We have a new Daisy in our troop! Meet Lindsey! What a cutie pie she is! We wanted her to feel welcome, especially since the Girl Scout Law says to be a sister to every Girl Scout. We got to welcome her in with everyone giving her a great big group hug!
During our meeting, we learned all the parts of the Girl Scout Law. The girls made Daisy shirts and as they painted each petal, we told them what each color represented. The girls were VERY excited to paint!
Here is the Girl Scout Law colors to review...it would be great if you would go over this with your Daisy.
