December Outing! :)
Hellooooooooooooo Daisies! :)What a great job you all did making ornaments at our last meeting! A proper post is to come, but let me just say these girls are FAST!! Now it's time to hand them out to those "Grandmas and Grandpas" we were talking about! I originally thought we could go to the new home over by Lowes, but it turns out that they only have 14 residents and we have 48 ornaments!
Fortunately, the folks over at Village Oaks in Chandler are SO excited that we are coming to visit! Here are the details:
Village Oaks at Chandler
1919 W. Carla Vista Dr.
Chandler, AZ 85224
Thursday, December 11th @ 6pm...just inside the entrance.
Please RSVP so that we know to wait for you or not. You can do so by commenting on the blog or replying to the email. Thanks! :)
Don't forget to wear your vest, a big smile, and have some Christmas carols practiced! :)
We will sing in the living room first...they will have just finished dinner.
If we have ornaments left over, we will break into smaller groups and visit the residents that are in their rooms. (Their policy is an open door means that we are welcome.)
Here are some carols to practice. If you don't see them, click here to go to the blog. It would be SO great for them to learn the hulahoop one...then instead of Alvin, we could call "Daisies!" And they could pretend to hula hoop every time the word is said. :)
That's it for now, email me if you have any questions. :) I have to go...it took me three hours to put this together with TONS of distractions! :) Have a great night all!

Gilbert Days Parade November 15th
The day finally came...it was time for Troop 1866 to be in its very first parade! The girls looked so cute and were so excited. It was bright and early and they were real troopers when it came to waiting for the parade to start too!
Here is the float all set up and ready to go. Thank you to all the parents that helped out! The float was decorated, the troop sign reassembled a few times (lol), and lots of tape, scissors, and glue bought!
And guess what? Our troop sign won SECOND place!! How cool is that?! The girls did a great job covering the soda bottles and a big thank you to Amy and Lindsey for finishing them up for us! By the way...see that pretty flower? Miss Jeri made two of them for the girls to hold...it got passed around so everyone had a turn...thank you! :)
The flowers looked great! You all did such a great job! My house smelled like paint for a while, but it was definitely worth it! Thank you to all the parents and Daisies for the wonderful float flowers too! :)
We shared the float with two other troops and sang songs with them too! We learned the second verse to "Make New Friends."
And you can't forget, "I'm a little Daisy!"
The girls really got into "We are the Girl Scouts, the mighty mighty Girl Scouts" song.
When those got old, we sang "Lemonade, Crunchy Ice." Ask your Daisy to sing it for you!
And then there was the water bottle that got ran over by the trailer and exploded in the parent's faces! We screamed, people on the sides screamed, and then everyone laughed! It was shocking at first, but then very refreshing! lol
Here's a little video of the sing along the girls participated in. Lillian is STILL singing this song...it does get stuck in your head, that is for sure. I tried to find the exact lyrics that we sang, but there are so many versions. Here is one.
Thanks again to all who helped and participated...the girls had a great time! :)

November 6th Meeting
Did you know that Daisies love glue?! I didn't either! Just look at those smiles! Constance is besides herself...apparently glue is here to stay! The girls started out their meeting by working on their troop poster for the Gilbert Days Parade! There was a contest to make your poster completely out of trash. The girls covered the soda bottles in ripped pieces of magazines. A super big thank you goes out to Lindsey and Amy (Makayla's and Kira's mom) for finishing them off for us!! You'll hear more about them in the next post.
More glue happiness!
Katlind was our Daisy of the Meeting. She picked Sophie to lead our pledge. It's fitting, as Sophie was picked to be the next Daisy of the Meeting...not that she knew that at the time! lol
Morgan and Makayla led us in the Girl Scout Promise...great job girls!
We started our leadership journey that day by reading a story about three girl scouts who stumbled upon a garden and found an amazing daisy. The story is in their leadership activity book and they were asked to read Chapter 2 at home so we could read Chapter 3 next time. It's okay if you didn't...we will catch them up!
With all this talk about gardens, the girls decided to make their own community garden. Each girl took ownership in the project by deciding what kind of seed they wanted to plant. They put the dirt in, planted their seeds and watered them. Just wait girls until you see them tomorrow...they definitely don't look like this anymore!
See you tomorrow Daisies! :)

October Outing- Corn Maze!
Here are the girls all set to go in the maze...one look at the kiddie maze we had initially in mind and they said, "No way! Let's do the big one!" Ambitious girls!
Phew! We made it to the first stop! Except it was really the third! lol Did the girls lose heart? Did they shake in fear that they would never get out? Not Troop 1866!
With bright smiles and one determined yet adorable face...they marched on!
Thanks to Jennifer, sweet Kaycie's mom, we got out of there! Truly, without her navigation skills, we might still be in there! And we even had a map! lol
YeAh! You made it girls! Take a moment to celebrate!
Speaking of videos, did anyone else like the guy singing the daisy song? I LOVE that! I know that you get emails when I post, but it unfortunately doesn't show the videos. You have to go on the blog to see that. :)
Til' next time!

Bits and Pieces
Hi all :)Just a few things...
1) Despite what the Islands newsletter said, the Gilbert Days Parade is on the 15th. We turned in all our paperwork on time...thank you so much for being so great about RSVPing! :) I really appreciate it and it makes things easier on this end for sure. :) We should be getting a confirmation soon.
2) For the parade, we will be making 2 things. One is a troop poster. There is a contest for most creative, so we will be making ours out of 2 liter soda bottles to go with their recycling theme. Tomorrow the girls will be covering a bottle in colorful paper to make their petal. Then we'll join them all together. So if you would please send them to school with an empty soda bottle and maybe an old magazine, that would be great. I realize it's late notice, so if you can't that's fine too...I will be bringing extras.
3) The second thing we will be making will be an at home project. The girls need to be holding flowers made of newspaper while they ride on the float to go with the recycling theme. Here are the directions. You may color them anyway you wish...they've asked for 2-3 from each girl. Should be fun! :)
4) As we get ready for holiday events, if anyone has any Michael's or Joann's coupons that they aren't using...we would very much appreciate them! :)
5) I also wanted to welcome our two new members! Morgan joined us at the last meeting...she is a friend of Lauren's and so sweet! Also, Kira will be joining our troop starting tomorrow! We know her from Kindergarten last year and she just had a birthday too! I know both girls will make great Daisies! Welcome girls! :)
Speaking of Daisies, check out this song! I tried to find something cute for the girls, but found this amazing voice instead! I never knew there were more words to the song either!
See you tomorrow! We will be starting our leadership journey! :)

Investiture Ceremony!!! 10-23
Hello Daisies and Daisy Parents! Now that I finally have a somewhat decent internet connection, I can share the pictures from our Investiture Ceremony! The girls were very excited to become official Daisies! Due to parent/teacher conferences, we were put back in room 9, but tomorrow we will have our meeting in the ALP room. Now onto the meeting! Here are the girls getting each other's autographs in their activity book. See those cute sit-upons? They made those at the last meeting!
In Girl Scouts, the rays of hope are the girls of the world. The value of each young girl is recognized by parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, leaders, and community members. Our Daisies have been nurtured in their homes and in their community. We are here to greet the newest buds in the Girl Scout world for they are now ready to bloom!
Daisies, today is a very special day for you. It is the day when you receive your Daisy Girl Scout membership pin and officially become a Girl Scout. This is an experience that your mothers may have had, and that you may one day pass on to your own daughters.
To do this, we each make a Promise -- the same Promise that all Girl Scouts, everywhere, make. We hold up three fingers to remind us that our Promise has three parts: to serve God and our country, to be helpful to others, and to try to be the best people we can by following the Girl Scout Law.
This is the Girl Scout Law:
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do,and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
It is now time for you to make your Girl Scout Promise.
Please raise your right hand and make the Girl Scout sign. Begin with on my honor:
On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
When your name is called, please come up, place your Daisy in the vase, perform the Girl Scout Handshake, and receive your pin, certificate, and patches. Then you may return to your seat.
__________, would you come forward as a Daisy Girl Scout and receive your pin?
Now that you have made the Promise and received your pin, you are an official Girl Scout. Let’s think for a minute about our Daisy troop. "Daisy" was the nickname of the woman who founded Girl Scouting in the United States. She loved her country, the world, and wanted every girl to realize her dream, whatever that may be. Because of her faith in you, your leaders’ faith in you, and your parents’ faith in you, you are here today. Today, 11 sweet little girls stand together, but in the future, 11 strong and intelligent women you will someday be.
Please turn around and face your parents.
Daisy Troop # 1866 presents our newest flowers."
I couldn't be happier with the wonderful group of girls we have in our troop! They just couldn't be sweeter!

I Love a Parade...Don't You?
We been invited to be in the Gilbert Days Parade this year!! How fun is that? The girls would be riding on a float...parents may walk behind if they like. The girls will be holding these giant flowers made out of newspaper! Speaking of which, if you have any Sunday comics, would you please set them aside for us?
In order to do this, we HAVE to RSVP by November 1st...which means I'll need to know from you by Halloween (Friday) if you will be able to join us for this November outing. Sorry to give you two events to RSVP at once, but they need to know how many trailers they will need.
This event will be held on November 15th. The cost of $4 per girl (adults are free) will be covered by the fall sale proceeds and it even includes a PATCH! It's in the morning...we meet at 8am and walk down to the shopping center at Warner and Gilbert. More details to come!
On your RSVP, we need to know how many adults will be walking also. I can tell you from experience this is a really cute parade...I think the girls will love it!
Here are some parade favorites to get you and your daughter in the mood...don't forget to RSVP!! :)
don't know about you, but when I was little, I always wanted to do that dance on the steps for courthouse from Ferris...anyone want to join me? lol

Investiture Ceremony This Thursday!
Hello Daisies and Parents! The meeting this Thursday, October 23rd, will be held directly after school...it is an early release day. That's 12:30 to 1:30. :) It will be a special meeting because we will be participating in the Investiture Ceremony!
This is where the girls will be officially recognized as a Daisy Girl Scout. They will get their Daisy pin, Daisy center, and even the first patch to the Journey! Please dress them in their vest and have them bring their activity books in their pack.
Parents are more than welcome to join us for the ceremony on Thursday! We will also be taking pictures and video to post here in case you can't make it.
The girls will also be getting their first "fun" patch! A fun patch goes on the back of the vest...anywhere you would like.
Also, I have to say you all did a FANTASTIC job on the Fall Sale! Go Daisies! The troop earned over a $100 for activities! I'll be picking up the product tomorrow and will distribute them to the girls along with your original sheet so you can collect the payments. Thank you for all your help! I think the patches they have earned are really cute!
That's it for now...have a great night everyone!

Daisy Meeting 10-9

Contstance's mom, Jerri, was kind enough to snap a few pictures for us. Thank you Jerri!
Our opening activity was to draw our self portraits in our activity books. The girls were VERY creative with their clothing...I see some future fashion designers in the making! Sophie started the meeting off with the pledge. We went over the Girl Scout Promise again and everyone said it together. We played the game Telephone...anyone remember that? Also known as Whisper Down the Lane. The girls were SO good at this, they got it right almost everytime! What great listeners we have in our troop!
Our main activity was to create some sit-upons so that our time in the Daisy circle woud be a bit more comfortable. We sandwiched a piece of foam between 2 pieces of fleece, daisy patterned of course! Sweet Lindsey had pre-cut all the fringe so that the girls could tie them together...great no-sew project! When we use them for the first time on Thursday, they will even be personalized with puff paint! Thank you Lindsey!
We closed the circle and talked about our next meeting...the Investiture Ceremony! You'll here more about that in the next post! You can tell the girls are really enjoying the friendship squeeze and Daisy song we sing at the end of the meeting...have your Daisy sing it for you...it's SO cute!

The Purpose of This Daisy Troop Blog
Hi all! :)It's time for the fall sale!
Hello Parents and Daisies! It's time to participate in the fall sale! I'm going to go over it with you now and make it as easy as pie, okay? The fall sale is divided into three parts:
1. Nut Sale! You recieved an order form. Pass it around to friends and family...do not collect any money now. Money will be collected at time of delivery. We are not able to return product once it is ordered. Our troop will profit $1 for every item sold! :)
2. Reader's Digest Postcard Booklet! This is the best deal for our troop...simply fill it out with the addresses of friends and family and turn it in. The postcards will be sent out and give them the opportunity to order a magazine. Even if not one magazine is ordered, our troop will recieve $3 for every booklet! These addresses will not be sold for any other purpose, so your friend's and family's privacy is protected!
3. Reader's Digest Online! Click here and follow the steps to invite your email friends to purchase a magazine. For every subscription sold, our troop will earn $2! On October 9th, please go back to the site and print out the sheet they tell you to. This sales sheet will need to be turned in at our Daisy meeting.
This is a great opportunity for our new troop to raise funds to cover the costs of our outings. Plus, you'll earn nifty patches like the one above or other prizes too!Forms and booklets need to be returned at our next meeting, October 9th. Also, please return the permission slip that came in your envelope. Daisies are not allowed to go door to door to sell products...please only sell to friends and family.
Thank you for taking the time out to participate in the program and help our Daisies!

Daisy Uniforms

Our First Meeting!
Welcome to the blog for Daisy Troop 1866! This is our way to communicate with you and show you what the troop has been doing. If you click on the pictures, you will see them full size. Feel free to save them for your own scrapbooks!
Everyone got to the room just fine. :) After having a talk with Kristen Stolzman, the head of VIK, it has been arranged that VIK will walk them over to the art room after they check in at the cafeteria. I already left a message with your teachers to let them know. :)
We started out by having each girl decorate and cut out a petal. They used their favorite colors and drew things that they like. They all did a great job!
Lauren started our time in the Daisy circle by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Then we introduced the Girl Scout Promise and sign. Miss Lindsey made a lovely poster of it to help us remember. Aubree and Abbie held it up for everyone to see. Once the girls memorize the promise, they will earn the center of their daisy flower! Please take some time at home to go over it with them before our next meeting.
Here's Bailee sharing her petal and stuffed animal with us. Each girl introduced themselves this way...we will do a little bit of this at each meeting to help the girls get to know each other. We also learned that it is okay to have more than one friend and sang the song, "Make New Friends."
Snack time included a toast to the new troop and a great year ahead!
The girls placed their petals together to make a daisy that is as unique as they are! Showing that alone they are special, but together they are a group of great girls, our Daisy Troop 1866!
We closed the meeting by learning a little about Juliette Low. We told her story a bit like a play...each girl had a part! This is when the giggles really starting rolling! We learned the friendship circle handshake and the song "I'm a Little Daisy!" See if they will sing it for you...it's really cute and will be sung at every meeting!
**The day after the meeting I walked Lillian to school. When we came up to the line, several new Daisies ran over and without being prompted, tried to say the Girl Scout Promise together! It was very cute and a good sign that they are excited about being a Daisy. :)
