Hello Daisies and Daisy Parents! Now that I finally have a somewhat decent internet connection, I can share the pictures from our Investiture Ceremony! The girls were very excited to become official Daisies! Due to parent/teacher conferences, we were put back in room 9, but tomorrow we will have our meeting in the ALP room. Now onto the meeting! Here are the girls getting each other's autographs in their activity book. See those cute sit-upons? They made those at the last meeting!
Lillian's name was drawn last week to be Daisy of the Meeting. She shared the about me page in the activity book and helped lead the meeting in many ways...by telling the girls what was coming next, drawing names, etc. It's all part of the Girl Scout belief that the girls should have a hand in making the decisions and learn how to lead. Katlind's name was drawn to be the next Daisy of the Meeting.
Constance and Sophie lead us in our last chance to practice the Girl Scout Promise. Then the ceremony began! Here it is if you are interested! I'll put it in blue so you can skip it if you want. :) BUT definitely scroll down! There is video! :)
Each living thing begins as a small ray of light, of hope. A small seed in a vast patch of soil.
In Girl Scouts, the rays of hope are the girls of the world. The value of each young girl is recognized by parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, leaders, and community members. Our Daisies have been nurtured in their homes and in their community. We are here to greet the newest buds in the Girl Scout world for they are now ready to bloom!
Daisies, today is a very special day for you. It is the day when you receive your Daisy Girl Scout membership pin and officially become a Girl Scout. This is an experience that your mothers may have had, and that you may one day pass on to your own daughters.
To do this, we each make a Promise -- the same Promise that all Girl Scouts, everywhere, make. We hold up three fingers to remind us that our Promise has three parts: to serve God and our country, to be helpful to others, and to try to be the best people we can by following the Girl Scout Law.
This is the Girl Scout Law:
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do,and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
It is now time for you to make your Girl Scout Promise.
Please raise your right hand and make the Girl Scout sign. Begin with on my honor:
On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
When your name is called, please come up, place your Daisy in the vase, perform the Girl Scout Handshake, and receive your pin, certificate, and patches. Then you may return to your seat.
__________, would you come forward as a Daisy Girl Scout and receive your pin?
Now that you have made the Promise and received your pin, you are an official Girl Scout. Let’s think for a minute about our Daisy troop. "Daisy" was the nickname of the woman who founded Girl Scouting in the United States. She loved her country, the world, and wanted every girl to realize her dream, whatever that may be. Because of her faith in you, your leaders’ faith in you, and your parents’ faith in you, you are here today. Today, 11 sweet little girls stand together, but in the future, 11 strong and intelligent women you will someday be.
Please turn around and face your parents.

Here are the girls saying their promise to earn the center of their daisy patch. They did a GREAT job!
When the girls came up, they received their daisy pin, patch, journey background patch, and even an ice cream party patch!
We ended the ceremony with the friendship circle and showed our visitors how to do the friendship squeeze...ask them to try it on you at home! One girl starts by squeezing the hand of the girl next to her, and it goes all the way around. This is something I remember doing as a brownie a LONG time ago! :) We also sang "I'm a Little Daisy."
The second half of the meeting was our ice cream party! Thank you Jennifer (Kaycie's mom) for providing the ice cream! The girls got to choose their toppings and spend some time talking to each other too.
I couldn't be happier with the wonderful group of girls we have in our troop! They just couldn't be sweeter!
